ACT Scullers win National Championships

ACT single scullers Tom Perry and Caleb Antill have both had great National Championships in Penrith in their respective single sculls races.

Tom rows for Canberra Rowing Club and he had dominant performance to take the lead near the half way mark and push out to a 4 second win from Hong Kong sculler Hin Chun Chiu, and Mercantile’s Red Mathews. This was a great win against international competition for Tom. He has had a great season both locally and nationally.
World Under 23 Champion quad sculler Caleb Antill from ANU has built on last season’s International form to win the Australian under 23 Single Sculls Championship. Caleb is now part of the National Training Center in Canberra, and he has benefited from the hard work that he put in after last year’s World Championship. Caleb led throughout his race to win by nearly 4 seconds from Black Mountain Rowing Club’s Tyron Boorman. Tyron, who was part of the successful Australian Under 21 team last year had a very controlled race to row from 4th in the early stages to his second place in the final.

These are all great results for coaches Renae Domaschenz and Andrew Randell.

We look forward to these and other results for the various ACT combinations over the remaining events at the National regatta
