Grzeskowiak and Davis Successful in Trans Tasman Racing

ACT athletes Cara Grzeskowiak and Sarah Davis have been outstanding as part of an Australian Under 21 team competing in the first leg of the Trans Tasman competition against New Zealand in Penrith. They are part of a team that are combining in a mixture of small and large boat events for the Rusty Robertson Trophy.

Cara was a convincing winner of the single Sculls event ahead of Sarah, followed by the Kiwi Representatives. This is Cara’s first International event. The two Canberra girls then joined in a quad with Melbourne and Sydney University lightweights Lucy Trembath and Holly Lawrence to comfortably win the quad sculls.

At the end of Saturdays racing Australia led New Zealand in the point score 128 to 102, with eight-oared races for men and women to be held this morning to complete the Australian leg of this competition. The Kiwis will hope to take some points from the Australian crews to keep this series alive.

The second leg of this Trans Tasman contest will be held at Lake Karapiro near Cambridge, N.Z in late August.
