New Rowing ACT Head Coach announced
Rowing ACT has a new head coach, with successful school and club coach Dave Fraumano to take the reigns from December.
Dave has a number of successes since beginning his coaching career back in 2003. After starting at Mercantile Rowing Club, Dave has coached local, interstate, and international crews, including the Men’s Lightweight sculls at 2013 Under-23 World Championships and the Victorian Penrith Cup crew from 2012-2015. He has also taken Mercantile crews to the Head of the Charles in Boston, and the Henley Royal Regatta in the United Kingdom.
Since taking over as Head of Rowing at St Catherine’s School in Toorak in 2012, Dave has built the rowing program into a local force. During his time at St Catherine’s the Senior 1st VIII won the 2016 Championship, finished second in the 2018 event, and has featured in five out of seven A finals at the Head of the Schoolgirls regatta. Dave holds a Master’s degree in Sports Coaching from the University of Queensland.
Dave takes over from the late Nick Garratt. Nick passed away suddenly in July, with Rowing ACT Assistant Coach Renae Domaschenz acting as head coach since then. Rowing ACT would like to thank Renae for her efforts during a difficult time after Nick’s passing; she will remain as Assistant Coach. They would also like to thank Rowing Australia and the ACT Academy of Sport for their help during the recruitment process.
