Vacancy – Executive Officer Rowing ACT

Applications are invited for the position of Executive Officer Rowing ACT.  Applications should be submitted by 7 December although the Board reserves the right to consider late applications.

Responsible to:

The Rowing ACT Board through the President.

Primary Role:

This position involves both administration of the sport of Rowing in the ACT and facilitating its development and growth. It will involve management, communication and coordination of the sport’s volunteers, contractors and members along with event planning and management.

Duties:

 The Executive Officer will manage, co-ordinate and implement policy of Rowing ACT, co-ordinate regattas and events, liaise with, coordinate and communicate with all stakeholders, assist in the management of accounts, undertake training and identify and apply for additional revenue opportunities.

The development component of the job includes, facilitating the building of infrastructure for rowing, specifically regatta, administrative and storage facilities, and coordinating rowing education programs.

The Executive Officer is expected to represent Rowing ACT at all necessary meetings and functions.

Accounting activities will be under the supervision and direction of the Director of Finance.  The Executive Officer is required to invoice within a fortnight of events, pay bills within normal business timeframes and keep detailed records which meet proper accounting and audit practices.  Financial reporting will be as required.

The successful applicant will be employed on the basis of a 38 hour week.    Work may not only vary from day to day but varies significantly over the season so applicants need to be able to manage their own time and should expect to work variable hours in accordance with the requirements of the position.  Actual office attendance is required but it is not fixed and is to be agreed with the President.  The successful applicant will be required to attend regattas and provide their own transport to successfully meet the expectations of this role.

Salary:

$55,000 (including superannuation) plus an annual fuel allowance of $500.

Selection Criteria:

 Essential

Knowledge of the sport of rowing or a proven ability to attain that knowledge quickly

  • A willingness to support and implement the policies and strategic directions set by the Board.
  • Demonstrated experience managing, coordinating and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High-level organisational skills including an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Be proactive and use initiative in a variety of situations.
  • Capability and proficiency in computer systems including Microsoft Office.
  • Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration or a willingness to successfully complete registration upon employment.
  • A knowledge and adherence to all Work Place Health and Safety Legislation.
  • NSW General Boat Licence or a willingness to successfully acquire upon employment.
  • A current driving licence and car to attend local events and meetings, at own cost (interstate travel will be met by Rowing ACT).

Desirable

Level 2 NCAS Coaching Accreditation

  • Experience in Rowing Regatta entry and management software.
  • Apply First Aid accreditation
