Annual BRO Appreciation Dinner

The annual BRO appreciation dinner was held over the recent long weekend at the Canberra Yacht Club.  Thank you to all of our BROs and volunteers who made the past season possible.

2024 Australian Rowing Championships Round Up

The 2024 Australian Rowing Championships in Sydney saw four ACT clubs send representatives up, being ANU, BMRC, CRC and CLRC along with 4 schools, being CGS, CGGS, Marist and Radford. A successful week in Sydney for all athletes and the ACT interstate team.

Our interstate team did the ACT proud, with 3 out of 5 crews taking home a medal. The challenge has been laid down to the ACT to see more crews take the field in the coming years.

ACT Interstate Team and School Pathways Squads

Rowing ACT is excited to announce the crews for the 2024 Interstate Regatta, as well as the squads for the 2024 schools pathways regatta in April. The Selectors and board were greatly impressed by the number and quality of nominees and is excited to see the ACT compete on the national stage.

ACT Nationals 2023 Wrap Up

With the first ACT Queen’s Cup crew in 11 years having made it’s run down the course at Champion Lakes, Perth, the 2023 Australian Rowing Championships is done and dusted. Congratulations to all who made their way across to Perth to compete at this year’s nationals. The ACT had crews compete from ANU Boat Club, Black Mountain Rowing Club, Canberra Grammar School, Canberra Girls Grammar School, Canberra Rowing Club, Capital Lakes Rowing Club, Marist College and Radford College. Annual General Meeting

The 58th Annual General Meeting was held on Monday the 24 October. At this meeting we farewelled two outstanding board members Luke Letcher and Neil Smith.  They have both been highly valued members of the Rowing ACT Board and brought their significant skill sets to the Board table which has been for the benefit of our wider rowing community.  We do wish Luke all the best as he embarks on the next stage of his professional career in Sydney and whilst Neil has stepped down as an elected Board Member his significant skills will be retained as he continues to […]

Luke Letcher announces his retirement

Luke Letcher has announced his retirement from International Rowing today.

Luke has been a representative of Australia and the ACT across a number of levels for many years since starting his rowing career at Radford College’s rowing program. A member of the Black Mountain Rowing Club, his career has been one to remember. Capped off by a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and being named the 776BC Rowers Rower at this years Australian Rowing Awards, Luke has done us very proud.

Sue was awarded The Australian Sports Medal in 2000 for “Commitment and service to the sport, particularly with juniors”. She was awarded an OAM in 2004 for “service to sport, particularly rowing as an administrator, coach and competitor, and to physical education.

  • Personally coached 19 junior and senior women in the Academy’s girls rowing “Talent Search” program. Under Sue’s coaching four of these women were selected to represent Australia.
