LTRC at Head of the Shoalhaven

LTRC at Head of the Shoalhaven

A group of Lake Tuggeranong RC rowers including many junior and novice rowers had a very enjoyable trip away on the 20th of September to participate in the Head of the Shoalhaven. This event included a 7km Head race first thing in the morning and a 400m sprint regatta throughout the day. Our junior rowers all participated in the scenic Head race in quads and a four. Both the open boys crew and U19 girls crew won their categories.

The sprint regatta commenced shortly after the last boat finished the Head race. Parents and supporters enjoyed an ideal spectator location on the bank of the river, while our rowers enthusiastically competed in many of the sprint regatta races. The junior LTRC rowers did very well and added several medals to their Head race trophies as souvenirs of the day. 12 of our 19 rowers managed to come home with medals and trophies from this event.

This event is a very relaxed, fun day out and proved to be a wonderful way for our new competitive rowers to experience their first regatta. Our thanks go to the Shoalhaven RC for hosting this event and sharing their facilities with us. Lake Tuggeranong RC rowers will return again to the Shoalhaven River to enjoy this relaxed regatta.
