The schedule and information for the ACT NTC time trials was released last week and can be found here. The first is being held tomorrow, Friday 14 September with the first boats starting at 06:45. All other crews should keep out of the way of time trialists who will not be following normal lake navigation conventions. Winter Time Trial #4 Start Lists The Saturday and Sunday start lists for the last 2007 winter time trial have been released. ACTRA Newsletter – September Edition The September edition is available here [470Kb PDF]. Included in this edition is World Championships news, Youth Cup news, start of racing season articles and some job advertisements. Everyone is invited to watch the FISA Rowing World Championships finals on Saturday at the ACT Rugby Union Club at 51 Blackall Street, Barton ACT. The first final (W1x) is at 18.10 and then every 15 minutes through to 22:10. The A finals are: Women’s single, Men’s single, Women’s pair (with Sarah Cook, YAY!), Men’s pair, Women’s double, Mens double, Adaptive Women’s single and Adaptive Men’s single. Finals are also scheduled for Sunday and include Mens and Womens fours, quads and eights. However due to the late racing times, arrangements have not presently been made to show these events. Youth Cup Regatta This comingweekend also has the Youth Cup Regatta at Nagambie and several of our club members are competing there. The athletes left Canberra early this morning. Its unclear where the results will appear, but probably on the Rowing Victoria web site. World Masters Rowing Championships – Zagreb Several Canberra masters rowers are in the process of travelling to Croatia for the World Masters Rowing Championships next week. Results will be available at


The progressive Winter Time Trial point scores are now available for Saturday and Sunday. Entries for the last time trials on 15-16 September are due to ACTRA a week beforehand – see your club for details.


The ACT Rowing Association, along with its partners ACT Academy of Sport (ACTAS) and Rowing Australia offer a newly created position, Elite Development Program Co-ordinator. The position will be located in Canberra based at the ACT Academy of Sport (Bruce) with a package of salary and other benefits offered that is commensurate with the successful candidates experience and qualifications. World Rowing Championships – They have started Rowing Australia has good information about the progress of Australian crews at the World Rowing Championships. The athletes are going well! Follow the progress of our ACT athletes Sarah Cook in the W2- and W8+, and Sonia Mills in the W4x, and even our ex-ACT athlete Fergus Pragnal in the tough M2+.

Rowing Australia Position Vacant – Elite Program Manager RA is advertising for an Elite Program Manager. Details can be found on the RA Web site. Applications close on 3 September. WAIS Position Vacant – Junior Development Coach WAIS is advertising for a Junior Rowing Development Coach. Details can be found here. Applications close on 31 August.

ACT Youth Cup Squad – Selections announced On Friday, 10 August ACTRA announced the selections for the ACT Youth Cup Squad to compete at Nagambie on 31 August to 2 September in this annual event. The team members are listed here. Congratulations to them all. ACT Rowers at World Junior Championships – catch up Our ACT representatives at the World Junior Rowing Championships have been back home for a week now and we are only now getting this record-of-ACT-rowing up-to-date. In case you missed the media reports and results on both the Rowing Australia and FISA web sites: the WJ2- of Christabelle Northam and Veronica Tamsitt came 2nd in the B Final; and the MJ4x- with Nick Barnier and Zac Cleaver also came 2nd in their B Final. The first heats have been rowed and our ACT rowers have done well. Winter Time Trial #3 – Call for Entries Entries for the third weekend of ACT Winter Time Trials close this weekend for trialing on 18-19 August. See your club for more details. Dunlite CDM Murray River Marathon – Entries Close Friday, 7 September The Dunlite CDM Murray River Rowathon will be held on Saturday 6th October, in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. It’s your chance to row 92km in a day (or as few of the four approximately equidistant stages as you wish) along the broad, still Murray River between Boundary Bend and Robinvale (midway between Swan Hill and Mildura). Entries close on Friday 7th September and you can download all the information you need (including explanatory notes, entry forms, maps & accommodation suggestions) from the official website, http://www.geocities.com/roger_boyce/.
