ACT Rowing Championships – Update In the next few days, we will publish the final rower scores for the season for each member in a club by club format and also thethe club point score to date. There are less than 3 weeks to go until The ACT Championships, which is shaping up to be an exciting 2 days of racing. ANU Boat Club thank you Last month the ACT Rowing Association website carried a call for help in getting the ANU Boat Club up and running for the start of the university year. I would now like to take the opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all those who came forward with help. Since that ad went up, the club has enlisted 3 new coaches. It has also received temporary assistance with equipment from Canberra Rowing Club and Capital Lakes Rowing Club to assist with the influx of new members who signed up during orientation week. These gestures of generosity highlight what a fantastically supportive rowing community the ACT has. Thank you to those clubs and individuals for all your help. Nick Hunter President ANU Boat Club

The Order of Events for the ACT Rowing Championships can be found here.
- Heats and finals will be run for all events. Heats will be held in the morning with finals in the afternoon. Finals will be conducted in the order indicated in the order of events. Only A Finals will be conducted. Heats will be held in the morning for events with more than 6 entries, all others will be straight finals in the afternoon.
- The Order of Events can not be changed to accommodate rowers wishing to enter conflicting events.
- Entries will close in ROMS at 6pm on Sunday 18th March. Entries can only be made by club’s, not individuals.
- All Masters events will be run on Rowing Australia handicaps. These handicap times can be found on pages 178 182 of the Rowing Australia rules. Depending on the number of entries received for each event, the races will be divided up into age groups. That is, if there are only 6 crews entered across all age groups, then only one race will be held. If there are 12 crews entered, then 2 races will be held with the lowest handicap times in one race and the largest handicap times in the second race.
- Schoolboys events will not be Championship events these will be held the following weekend at the Federal Head of the Lake Regatta.
- There are double points for championship events.

Entries for the regatta this weekend have indicated that it will be quite a small regatta with close racing and an early finish. The last race is scheduled for 11.10am. To ensure the regatta runs safely and efficiently, we require at least 2 volunteers from each of the competing clubs (Daramalan, Radford, CRC, BMRC and CGS). Ideally we would like one of the volunteers to have a boat driving licence. This is a great opportunity for coaches to get on the water and follow their crews racing or parents and friends to get an up close view of competition. Please advise ACTRA of your availability to assist with the regatta ASAP. We would really appreciate your support. Peter Antonie Book now available Canberra’s ‘voice of rowing’, Robin Poke, has just published his book on Australian rowing legend Peter Antonie. A flyer on the book is here.
