Entries for the next ACTRA regatta (#2) are due next weekend. See your club for details. ACTAS NTC Time Trial – Saturday 15 November Entries for the third and last ACTAS NTC time trial are due by 17:00 to ACTAS Head Coach Gordon Marcks. The event is on Saturday and other lake users are asked to show consideration for trialists who will be rowing between the AIS Boat Shed at Yarralumla, and Kingston. Boats will not be following normal traffic rules. ACT Regatta Premiership Point Score The points after the first regatta are:

08 Nov 2008 Black Mountain Rowing Club Regatta – Results The results for today’s regatta can be found here. It was run in blustery conditions – 22 to 40 km/h WNW. National Rowing Centre of Excellence – Positions Vacant Rowing Australia is advertising for applications for an Elite Development Manager and a High Performance Assistant. Applications for both positions close on 14 November and Naomi Wagstaff is the contact.


The draw and programme for this Saturday’s BMRC Regatta (the first ACT regatta of the season) are available here and here. ACTRA Selection Policy – revision and details A revised ACTRA Selection Policy for rowing representatives has been published here. In addition, note:

  • Youth Olympic festival nominees should now be entering in the 1X and 2- at two of the first 3 ACT regattas. Please note that alternative boats are available but the selectors need to know what they have entered in. Nominees attending the NSW regatta this week should also let the selectors know of their events.
  • The Kings cup and interstate regatta nominations close next Friday, but nominees are also required to race at the local regattas in the appropriate events.
  • Coaches interested in making themselves available should follow the same procedure and complete the forms as appropriate.

Coxswain Course – Cancelled The Coxswain Course scheduled to start yesterday was cancelled due to too few people confirming attendence.

Rowing Australia has called for nominations for 2008 rower of the year. The nomination form can be found on the RA web site here. ACT Coxswain Course – Wednesday, 05 November A course is being run for new coxs next Wednesday, with practice on Yarramundi Reach the following Thursday and Friday mornings. See your club for more details. Youth Olympic Selection Trials – Saturday, 01 November Time trials for ACT Youth Olympics rowing candidates will be held on Yarramundi Reach this Saturday morning between 06:00 and 08:00. Please keep the course clear, particularly of coach boats. Head of the Tweed River – 28 June 2009 Advance notification has been given of the second 21km Head of the Tweed. This year’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, 20 November. It will be held at Sports House, Hackett. Information, including nomination form, can be found here. Col Panton Rowing Marathon – Results The results are now available here.


Some minor corrections have been made to the standard event list. The changes were: to correct the Event Description of event 33; delete Event 23 (MGB 2x) as it is a duplication of event 2.


The start list for Saturday’s event has been issued here. Updated competitor instructions are also available here. Note that the start location has been altered. Also, note that there is a major dragon boat regatta starting at 08:30 in the Lotus Bay area. Black Mountain Rowing Club Regatta – First Notice The first regatta of the ACT racing season is just over 2 weeks away – 08 November. All entries are through your club and will be due no later the weekend of 01-02 November.


A new standard event list has been issued for the coming season. This revision is the result of consultation with our rowing community and the prospect of increasing regatta participation. It will be reviewed again during the season.


The rowing selection policy for the January 2009 Youth Olympics is being revised and will be available in a few days. However, the closing date for nominations is 17:00 on this coming Friday, 24 October. Nominations (Name, Date of Birth and email address) should be submitted by email to ACTRA. Col Panton Rowing Marathon – Presentations The presentations for the Col Panton this Saturday will be held at the Canberra Rowing Club starting at 08:30. There will be a light breakfast provided for a nominal charge.


This regatta is being held 18 October. The events are:

  • 08:00 M4+ 2000m
  • 08:15 Dragon Boat exhibition race
  • 08:40 W4+ 2000m
  • 09:00 M8+ 4250m
