Nick Barnier in the JM2x won a bronze medal with Sasha Belonogoff at the World Championships in Austria on the weekend. Ex-ACT resident, Fergus Pragnal also took 3rd place in the M2+ with a big finish rating 42spm. Winter Time Trial #4 – Call for Entries Entries for the last winter time trial before the Olympics are due this weekend at your club (there is one more WTT in September). The TT is being held the following weekend, 9-10 August. The point scores after 3 WTTs are available here: Saturday points; Sunday points. ACT 2008 Youth Cup Team Announced The final selections for the 2008 Youth Cup have now been announced. The Youth Cup is being held 5-7 September at Kawana Waters, Queensland.

Nick Barnier of Canberra with Sasha Belonogoff won their quarter final by 2.5 secs in the fastest of the QFs at 6:32.09. They now progress to the semi-finals tomorrow (Friday) to earn a place in the A or B final. The race will be held at approximately 18:00 Canberra time.


The World Junior championships started today in Austria with the ACT’s main interest being Nick Barnier in the JM2x with Sasha Belonogoff. They won their heat in the fastest time of the 6 heats, more than 10 secs in front of second. Their next race is the quarter finals – at 19:48 Thursday AEST. The “Live Race Viewer” can be seen here. An ex-ACT rower, Fergus Pragnall is in the M2+ boat and he also won his heat.
