The results of todays regatta are available here. The regatta was run in perfect conditions on beautiful Yarramundi Reach. Temperature ranged from 10C to 27C and the wind varied from 4 to 7 km/h.

The Draw and Programme for this weekend’s ACT Rowing Championships Regatta has been published. The regatta has been consolidated to one day with break periods to allow for changeovers and reasonable recovery between events. Please use BOW NUMBERS for all boats. Borrow one from the friendly finish line officials if you have to – just don’t row to the start without one. ACT Athletes at the National Level – omissions Earlier this week we listed ACT athletes invited to compete for national representation. The following were omitted due to my carelessness:
- Christabelle Northam and Louise Kilby in the W2- at the Senior and U23 trials, and
- Jaime Fernandez as a coach for at the Junior Elite Target Squad. Unfortunately for us, but great for Jaime, he is now listed as a Victorian coach, as he is moving to Melbourne in a couple of months.
Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race – ACT interest Mike Valli who spent 2007 rowing from Canberra Rowing Club is in the reserve Oxford crew, Isis. The reserves race at about 15:00 BST Sunday 29 March (about 02:00 Monday 30 March AEDST). The O-C is about 30 minutes later.

ACT Athletes Invited for AIS Trials Congratulations to Amy Fowler (CRC-ACTAS) and Angus Moore (CGS-CRC-ACTAS) have been invited to participate in the AIS Junior Elite Target Squad (JETS) camp in April after impressive performances at the Australian Championships. Also congratulations to Senior, U23 and adaptive athletes Lauren Burraston (CRC-ACTAS), Brandie O’Connor (CLRC-ACTAS), David Wright (CRC-ACTAS), Riley Owen (CLRC-ACTAS), Christabelle Northam (ANU) and Louise Kilby (ANU) who have been invited to participate in the April National Selection Trials.
The last ACT regatta before the ACT Rowing Championships is on Saturday, 14 March. Entries are due this weekend through your club. standard event list applies. The results of today’s sprint regatta are here. The regatta was run in temperatures ranging from 14C to 29C and from no breeze at all to a NW at 20 to 30km/h – quite variable.
This Saturday’s regatta draw and programme are now available.
- The NCA has advised that LBG (other than East Basin) is safe for rowing subject to precautions to protect from continuing high levels of algae in the water.
- Medals will be awarded to first, second and third placings in races with more than three crews entered. Races with only three crews will have Gold and Silver medals awarded, but not Bronze. Medals can be collected after each race at the BRO shelter.
- There will be no toilets at the finish line.
- Paramedics will be in attendance.
- Catering for drinks only will be managed by Daramalan.
- Crews who experience capsize need to be washed down promptly. The paramedic will have a fresh water supply to assist with rapid corrective action, alternative is a shower at BMRC or Daramalan.
The Australian Institute of Sport Physiology Department is recruiting experienced rowers to assist with research into the effects of sodium bicarbonate supplementation on rowing performance. Sodium bicarbonate has been shown to improve athletic performance in several sports. You would be eligible if your 2km ergometer Personal Best time is better than or equal to 7:50 for females and 6:50 for males.
