Come support the ANU Boat Club!

All funds raised will go to supporting our competitors to trek across the Nullabor to Perth to compete in the 2016 Australian University Games!

With WTT3 small boats cancelled Jordan Thompson (BMRC) remains in the lead for the pointscore for the Killer Cup. He is 4 points clear of Tom Perry (CRC).

Sarah Taylor (CRC) leads the W1x event from Cara Grzeskowiak (CLRC).

All three WTT races have been held with strong entries in 2x, 4x & 8+ events.

LTRC leads Quads events from Radford.

Last year’s winners of Doubles event, Mary Bonney and Michael Vickers (BMRC) again lead the points score.

The eights event pointscore is tightly contested with two crews from ANU, and crews from CRC, RMC and ADFA in equal first place.

Dr Anthony Rice (Rowing Australia Physiologist) and a student of his are running a short metabolic study for Rowing Australia and they’re looking for recruits from ACT while RA athletes are overseas.

We are very keen to see members of the rowing community get involved and would like as many sign up as possible.

This is a great opportunity to find out what your VO2 Max, lactate thresholds and maximum training zones are for both rowing and cycling to enhance your training programs for success.

It’s all part of supporting the rowing community and knowledge is power!

You must be:

  • Between 18-40 years
  • Male or Female
  • Currently training
  • Not be sick or injured
  • Have competed at a high level this year, Nationals, Masters Nationals, NSW Champs and be in Training at the moment

Testing involves a max effort erg test while Vo2 and Lactate data is taken, followed by a max effort cycle a week or so later and same data collected. Nothing Invasive and nothing that scary!

To contact those running the study email josh.lindenthaler@rowing.ausportnet.com and for more information CLICK HERE.

Thanks,

Renae Domaschenz

We have had significant damage to our club over the past few days in Launceston- Tasmania, and it looks like it will continue for several more tides. This means we can’t even get in yet to clean up. By the time we can, it will have been 5 days of water up to 5ft in depth throughout the club for most of that time….
This leaves the building in pretty bad shape! We are not even sure what has gone, because when the roller door and windows went, things got sucked out! Fortunately we were able to evacuate many boats, and little damage has been done to the remaining ones. However our gym and club facilities are ruined.
We are going to struggle to rebuild Tamar, a club that has been in existence in Launceston since 1876. (For a full insight into what we had and our history, go to the Tamar Rowing Club website)
Over the past few years we have fundraised to remodel our kitchen, have replaced our bathroom/change rooms and spent time and money on painting, fixing the roof and new curtains. All that is now gone. I am a 4th generation member of the Tamar Rowing Club and I know I speak for all when I say we are like a family and the club is our second home.
If you are able to help you can make a tax deductible donation through the link below:

Any donation you can make will be greatly appreciated.
