2012 – 2013 ACT Regatta Season Dates Confirmed

The Rowing ACT regatta dates for the upcoming season are now final. The Regatta Subcommittee met in late April to schedule the upcoming season and make recommendations to the Rowing ACT Committee who have now approved the below program. Regrettably following the Regatta Subcommittee meeting Rowing NSW amended their regatta schedule presenting a clash between the ACT Championships and the NSW Schoolgirl Head of the River. The Rowing ACT committee felt that there were major problems associated with rescheduling the ACT Championships due to constraints involving the extended National Championship/World Cup regattas, other inter-state regattas and the school end of term. We have retained the 9th and 10th of March as the ACT Championship weekend.

In addition the Regatta Subcommittee agreed to implement a new grading proposal previously outlined on the rowing ACT website here. The new grading system will replace the rower score grading system in favour of a much simpler system. The only change implemented by the Subcommittee was to replace Introductory with Novice. Guidelines for the new grading system are;

• Elite [E] (1800m). International Representatives, AIS athletes, those aspiring to represent, those who wish to compete against the best.
• Senior [S] (1800m) Experienced rowers, ACT and Inter-state Champions, School first crews.
• Intermediate [IA] (1500m). Rowers with several seasons experience, Year 10 Rowers at school, experienced and competitive masters rowers.
• Intermediate [IB] (1000m). Rowers who have progressed from beyond their first season.
• Novice [N] (1000m): Those in their first season of rowing.

While the final standard regatta Order of Events and ACT Championships Order of Events are yet to be finalised the typical Standard Order of Events incorporating the changes will be;
