Angus Moore at the World U23 Championships

Last night at 5:21pm AEST Angus Moore of Canberra Rowing Club commenced his campaign at the World under 23 Championships held in Linz Austria. Moore lined up for a start in the Men’s Pair with partner Alex Hill of Adelaide Rowing Club.

Competing against 17 other nations Moore and Hill drew heat two against challengers from Ireland, Russia, Venezuela, Estonia and the USA. Moore and Hill performed well under the guidance of coach Tim Conrad to cross the line comfortably ahead of Ireland followed by Russia by a margin of more than 11 seconds. They secured their place in the semi-finals as the fastest heat qualifier in a time of 6 minutes 37 seconds ahead of heat 3 winners South Africa (6:38.30) and heat 1 winners Serbia (6:42.49).

Moore and Hill will now line up in one of two semi-finals on Saturday at either 5:28PM or 5:35PM AEST. You can view the race via FISA’s live race tracker here – www.worldrowing.com/live-results
