ANU Rowers win Gold in Penrith

The ANU team achieved a win in the first finals of the Australian University Games rowing competition, raced today on the 2000 Olympic Games rowing course in Penrith.

ANU’s mixed four of Maddy Farrar, Cara Grzeskowiak, David Wright, Luke Letcher and cox Gen Kinoshita powered away from a high calibre Sydney University crew in the final. ANU was the defending title holder in this event.

The win capped off a great day for the ANU team, which qualified for the A finals in 12 of the 16 Games rowing events. Two of the finals were raced today, with the remaining finals to be held on Friday.

The ANU team is looking to improve on its third place in the overall rowing rankings, achieved at last year’s event.
