Associated Southern Colleges Regatta – Saturday 8th November

This is not a Rowing ACT event. Any inquiries should be directed to Mike Brady of Daramalan College:

‘On Saturday the 8th November the Associated Southern Colleges will be holding a short school regatta on the rowing course. The regatta course will be used from 6.30am until 11am, Lake Burley Griffin Reverse Traffic Flow Procedure will be in place from 5am Saturday morning until 11am. We apologies for any interruption to training schedules and thank you for your understanding, this is an important regatta for our school rowers.’

Boat Race Official Information Seminar – Sunday 26th October

The annual Boat Race Official Information Seminar will be held this Sunday the 26th of October from 11:00am –  01:00pm at the Canberra Girls Grammar Aquatic Center.

This seminar will be given by Head BRO Geoff Northam and will provide essential training on BRO duties, etiquette and responsibilities ahead of the 2014 – 15 season.

If you are interested in becoming one of our highly valued BROs, please join us for the seminar.

Existing BROs are also recommended to attend the seminar to help teach new BROs and to plan for the coming season.

NTC Time Trial #2 – Friday 24th / Saturday 25th October

ACTAS will be conducting the second of its monthly NTC Time Trials this Friday and Saturday mornings. Details below

PLEASE GIVE WAY TO PARTICIPATING ATHLETES. THEY HAVE PERMISSION TO TAKE THE SHORTEST COURSE POSSIBLE.

Friday Time Trial – Small Boats:

Start – 7:00am

Course – Participating athletes will be trialing from the white poles (finish of the Winter TT Course) to Kingston Harbor between 7:00am and 7:45am.

CLRC PARA-ROWING PROGRAM

Capital Lakes Rowing Club, located at the Kingston Foreshore development at the east end of Lake Burley Griffin, runs a rowing program for people with physical or intellectual impairments. The program allows people with a wide range of ages and impairments to enjoy recreational or competitive rowing in a supportive club environment. CLRC has been working closely with both Rowing ACT and Rowing Australia to help build para-rowing participation in Australia.

Adelaide University Boat Club is looking to sell a 2009 Sykes M40G 8+.

Boat is in good over all condition. Has seen some small repair work at the bow in 2012. Stored at West Lakes SA since purchase and rowed very intermittently since then.

ANU Rowers Win 6 Medals at Universtiy Games

After qualifying for 12 out of a possible 16 A finals at the Australian University Games in Sydney, ANU’s rowers went on to win 6 medals, including 2 gold.

 

The athletes enjoyed ideal racing conditions on the final day at Penrith Lakes to notch up their tally of 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

ANU Rowers win Gold in Penrith

The ANU team achieved a win in the first finals of the Australian University Games rowing competition, raced today on the 2000 Olympic Games rowing course in Penrith.

ANU’s mixed four of Maddy Farrar, Cara Grzeskowiak, David Wright, Luke Letcher and cox Gen Kinoshita powered away from a high calibre Sydney University crew in the final. ANU was the defending title holder in this event.

LTRC at Head of the Shoalhaven

A group of Lake Tuggeranong RC rowers including many junior and novice rowers had a very enjoyable trip away on the 20th of September to participate in the Head of the Shoalhaven. This event included a 7km Head race first thing in the morning and a 400m sprint regatta throughout the day. Our junior rowers all participated in the scenic Head race in quads and a four. Both the open boys crew and U19 girls crew won their categories.
