National Selection Trials Invitation List Published

Congratulations to all ACT rowers who have been invited to trial for the 2014 Australian Open, Under 23 and Under 21 teams.

Following on from the recent Australian Rowing Championships the provisional invitation list for Senior, Under 23 and Under 21 Australian Team Selection Trials has been announced!

The Australian Team Selection Trials for the 2014 Senior, Under 23, Under 21 and Junior teams will get underway from the 23rd April 2014 and will continue through to May 1. The trials will be conducted at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith.

ACT Highlights from the Sydney International and National Regatta

The ACT had some excellent performances from its rowers at the week long National Regatta in Penrith, finishing Sunday 30 March.
Cara Grzeskowiak of Capital Lakes club had a great regatta with a win in the Champion Women’s under 21 single scull a highlight, and setting Cara up as a likely member of Australia’s under 21 team to compete against New Zealand later in the year. Cara was also a member of second placed composite ANU and Capital Lakes Under 23 double scull and quad scull crews, that indicate that the ACT has some quality in this young women’s […]

Black Mountain’s Bubbles by the Lake

Black Mountain Rowing Club invites rowers to Bubbles by the Lake. …..drinks and nibbles to celebrate the end of another great ACT regatta season, on Saturday April 5, 5.30-7.30 pm at BMRC shed.

ACT School Head of the Lake

The Regatta Reverse Traffic Flow procedure dated 16/11/2011 will be in place throughout the Head of the Lake Regatta. The presence of the Reverse Flow Gate indicates reverse flow is in place.

Weston Park Regatta Setup, Boating Arrangements

Weston Park will again act as the primary regatta hub. Regatta commentary will be broadcast in Weston Park as well as Lady Denman Drive. The First Aid facilities will be located in Weston Park.

Call for entries – School Head of the Lake

The ACT Schools Head of the Lake is a new event established to provide an opportunity for school students rowing to compete in a fun event based around team competition between club and school programs rather than the usual individual crew performances. The regatta will feature a point score competition between School Boy, School Girl and Combined schools and clubs.

All current school students rowing with either a club or school are eligible to compete.

Rowing ACT thanks the local schools and clubs for their input and feedback in developing the program for this regatta.

ACT Championships in 2014

The 2014 ACT Championship regatta was held over the weekend in near perfect conditions for rowing on both days. As the visiting team from St Augustines (Sydney) observed “This is so much better than rowing on Hen and Chicken Bay in Sydney Harbour”. The Weston Park regatta site was able to accommodate the large number of visiting and local crews, their boats, trailers and tents, and provide a friendly village type atmosphere for spectators and competitors alike.

Canberra Rowing Club Takes Out the Premiership

Canberra Rowing Club has once cleaned up the 2013-2014 rowing season winning the ACT Rowing Premiership by 105 points over Radford College in addition to winning both the Men’s and Women’s Premierships. CRC secured their victory over Radford College with an impressive campaign during the ACT Championships earning a total of 190 points ahead of Black Mountain Rowing Club and Shoalhaven Rowing Club. Radford and Black Mountain rounded out the top three with a total of 505 and 414 points respectively.

2014 RACT Championships Results

Congratulations to the members of Canberra Rowing Club who combined in fine form to take out the Phere Niki Trophy which is presented to the highest point scoring club of the annual ACT regatta. After two days of racing CRC finished with 190 points ahead of Black Mountain Rowing Club on 111 and Shoalhaven Rowing Club on 75 points.

Thank you to all who volunteered their time over the weekend helping to make the event such a great success.
