Andrew Randell Appointed as ACTAS Head Coach/ACT HPDC

Rowing Australia, the ACT Academy of Sport (ACTAS) and Rowing ACT are pleased to announce that Andrew Randell has been appointed as ACTAS Head Coach and ACT Development Coordinator.

Andrew is currently the Director of Rowing and Head Coach at Prince Alfred College and the Adelaide Rowing Club. Prior to this Andrew worked predominately within high performance clubs and schools in NSW. He was involved in roles such as Director of Coaching at The King’s School, Technical Coordinator for Rowing NSW and Head Rowing/Technical Coach at NSWIS. CAUTION ACTAS NTC Time Trial This Friday and Saturday

ACTAS will be conducting an NTC Time Trial this Friday (Sep 27) and Saturday (Sep 28). Rowers will start at the AIS White Poles and progress to via the most direct route to Kingston Harbour. The time trial will commence at 7am. All other rowers are requested to keep clear of those competing and coaches are asked to insure they do not wash off those competing.

Call for Entries 2013 Head of the Molonglo Marathon

This year’s Head of the Molonglo Marathon is to feature a similar course to last years, designed to test your endurance. The event will be conducted on Sunday 27th October starting at 7:30am.

Entries close 5pm Monday 21st October.

WTT #5 Start Lists Available

Lady Denman Drive Closure

Lady Denman Drive will be closed tomorrow to accommodate a cycle race passing through. Police will be managing rolling closures. It is expected access to Black Mountain Peninsular will be affected between 8:05am and 8:15am. Please note this is different to previously advertised closures as the Start time for the race was changed.

Canberra Rower Sarah Bourke Announced as Finalist for FISA Award

The international rowing federation FISA has announced that ANU student Sarah Bourke has been shortlisted for an international award.

Sarah is one of six athletes, and the only Australian, to be announced as a finalist for World Rowing’s Parmigiani Spirit Award. The award is for a university rower who has demonstrated the core values of rowing in his or her social, academic and sporting life and, through these values, also enabled or inspired exceptional success in other people’s lives – for example in education, business, sport or charity.

ACTAS NTC Time Trial Dates Revised

Note: Following the publication of this notice the date for the October Time Trial has been revised from October 18 & 19 to October 25 & 26 to align with the Rowing Australia schedule. The ACTAS bulletin below has now been updated.

The format and dates for this season’s NTC time trials has now been confirmed. The dates have been uploaded to the Rowing ACT Event Calendar. For further details including changes this year, format and entries view the ACTAS bulletin.

You are invited to join us at the Rowing ACT Presentation Season Celebration on 20th October at the Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club, Yarralumla from 1pm.

We encourage all rowers and those involved in rowing to join us to celebrate achievements throughout the past year and catch up with friends, fellow clubs members, BROs and even your competition.

The afternoon will include the postponed Summer Season presentations, the Winter Time Trial Series presentations and the Singapore Airlines ticket draw.

Call for entries WTT #5, 21st and 22nd September

The fifth and final of the Rowing ACT 2013 Winter Time Trials will be held on the 21stth and 22nd September 2013. The format of the event is singles and pairs on the Saturday, doubles, quads, fours and eights on Sunday. Please note that doubles will now longer be allowed to compete in Saturdays Time Trial.

Winter Time Trial Seat Fees remain at $6.60 inc GST.

The course is 3km long and runs from near the Governor Generals wharf, around a turning boat near the 1800m start, down Yarramundi Reach, around Kurrajong Point and up Tarcoola Reach finishing at the […]
