Regatta #5 – Canberra Girls Grammar School

The Regatta Reverse Traffic Flow procedure dated 16/11/2011 will be in place throughout the Canberra Girls Grammar School regatta. The presence of the Reverse Flow Gate indicates reverse flow is in place.

SIRR entries to be completed via RegattaCentral

Rowing Australia have advised that entries for the Sydney International Rowing Regatta are now open.

Entries for the Australian Open Rowing Championships, Australian Open School Rowing Championships and the King’s Cup and Queen’s Cup Interstate Regatta must be made through RegattaCentral.

As the 2013 Sydney International Rowing Regatta will be the first time many users have experienced the RegattaCentral system, a number of steps have been taken by RA to assist with the familiarisation of all users with the system. These, along with information on how to submit an entry via RegattaCentral are outlined on the SIRR website

Call for entries – Regatta #6

Entries for Rowing ACT Regatta #6 to be hosted by the Australian National University on 9 February 2013, close 5pm Wednesday the 30th of January. Clubs that have not submited their entries by the deadline will not be able to participate.

A Plead to Local Rowers – Remain Cautious

As you will have noticed it’s the time of the year again when many teams are visiting Canberra to complete training camps. I have recently received many emails and personally witnessed quite a few traffic violations which had the potential to cause serious injury. In addition last Friday there was a serious collision on the rowing cause where a coxless four T-boned a coxed quad at race pace. Fortunately no one was seriously harmed, however reports suggest if the four had been inches of the course they were on or the quad had not stopped when they had the consequences […]

Radford College Time Trial this Sunday

Radford College will be conducting their annual boat camp on the lake from Sunday 20 January until Friday 25 January.

On Sunday morning from about 7:00am we will run a sculling time trial on the course as part of our selection process. Scullers will be in lane 7 and will be carrying a bow number on their boat to indicate that they are racing.

We would like to ask that coaches from other programs please keep speedboat wash to a minimum at this time.

The time trial should be completed by 8:30am.

Seeking 2013 Masters State Team Nominations Updated

Rowing ACT is seeking nominations from Masters Athletes wishing to be considered for the 2013 ACT Rowing Team to compete at the 2013 Australian Masters Rowing Championships to be held in Canberra.

The Selectors would like to call for nominations in advance of confirming selection activities for each event. Once nominations have been received Selectors will contact nominees to organise squad training and specific selection activities. It is also recommended that nominees compete in upcoming local regattas in small boats.

Australian Rowing Masters Rowing Commission

Rowing Australia has recently appointed a Masters Rowing Commission with representatives from each State and Territory. Details are given on the Rowing Australia Website. The ACT representative is Susan Linacre. At the first meeting of the Masters Rowing Commission, held by teleconference on Tuesday 8 January, it was agreed that an early activity of the Commission was to develop and communicate its charter.
