Calling for 2013 Youth Olympic Team Nominations

Rowing ACT is currently seeking nominations from lightweight rowers, heavyweight rowers, coxswains and coaches for the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival Regatta to be held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre between the 16th and 20th January 2013.

Athletes must be 19 years of age or younger as at the 19 January 2013.

Nominations are due by 5pm Friday 12th October 2013.

Selection events will be held between 19th and 27th October as per the Event Requirements.

YARRALUMLA BAY CLOSED

SEWAGE LEAK IN LAKE BURLEY GRIFFIN

The National Capital Authority (NCA) advises that Yarralumla Bay is closed to all uses following a minor discharge of raw sewage.

The incident has been attended by NCA staff and lake management contractors, ACT Health, Environment Protection Agency, Roads ACT and ActewAGL. The leak has now been stopped and investigation into its source of the leak is underway.

Water samples have been taken. A visual inspection appears to indicate the discharge has been contained to the Bay.

There are just under 5 weeks until the 2012 Rowing Australia Coaches Conference!

RA are excited to announce a new discount for multiple registrations – any school or club registering 6 or more accredited coaches, will pay only $600 per person!

High Performance Rowing Scholarships 2012/13

The National Rowing Centre of Excellence (NRCE) in association with all Sports Institutes and Academies across Australia (AIS/SIS/SAS) has again implemented a High Performance Rowing Scholarship framework for 2012/13.

This framework also includes the alignment of the national High Performance Development Program (HPDP) to the broad criteria.

The following documents outline the agreed minimum NRCE performance criteria, and additional ACTAS criteria, established for the respective scholarship Tiers for which athletes will be considered, together with an application form, the process and timings.

Canberra Olympic Homecoming Celebrations

Olympic Homecoming Celebrations will be coming to Canberra on Tuesday August 28th. This public event will be held in Civic Square with pre-event entertainment kicking off at 11:30. Official proceedings will begin at 12:00pm.

This event is an opportunity for all Canberrans to celebrate our London Olympians for their fantastic performances throughout The Games. There will also be ample opportunity for fans to get photos with and autographs from their favourite Olympians.
