Call for entries Winter Time Trial #4, 18th and 19th August 2012

The forth of Rowing ACT’s 2012 Winter Time Trials will be held on the 18th and 19th August 2012. The format of the event is singles and pairs on the Saturday, doubles, quads, fours and eights on Sunday. Rowing ACT is willing to accept double entries on Saturday, however crews must be early novice. Clubs need to be aware these crews will NOT be competing in any official category and will not be awarded prize or point score rewards.

Seeking Youth Olympic Team Manager

Rowing ACT is seeking a Team Manager for the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Team. The team will be traveling to Sydney to compete at the regatta on the 19th and 20th of January.

The team manager will be required to attend a Team Managers Workshop in Sydney on 27th September 2012. They will also be required to liaise with selectors to develop a suitable selection policy along with its implementation. The manager will travel with the team and provide supervision to ensure the AOCs guidelines are adhered to. For a detailed list of duties click

RA News – London 2012, Olympics Games

Australia has 13 crews competing at the London Olympic Games. The rowing regatta will take place from Saturday 28 July to Saturday 4 August.

2012 Coaching Courses – REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN

Rowing ACT will be conducting a single day Learn to Row (Level 1) coaching course on the 14th October and a two day Club/School (Level 2) coaching course on the 29th and 30th September. Canberra’s Angus Moore Prepares to Race on the World Stage

The 2012 Under 23 World Rowing Championships in Trakai, Lithuania commenced last night. ACTAS/Canberra Rowing Club member Angus Moore will be racing in the Australian men’s eight who will commence their campaign in the second of two heats on Thursday (Tonight). They will race the local Lithuanians along with crews representing Spain, Romania and the United States at 2:17pm local time which is 9:17pm AEST.

RA News – Olympic ticket and accommodation package

Flight Centre Group Travel is pleased to advise that it has acquired some last minute Olympic rowing tickets which are available for purchase as part of a Supporters Packages for the London Olympic Games.

The Supporters Packages include a ticket in the grandstand for each session of the Olympic regatta, as well as accommodation options in and around Windsor, the central hub for all ground transport to the rowing course.

2012 – 2013 ACT Regatta Season Dates Confirmed

The Rowing ACT regatta dates for the upcoming season are now final. The Regatta Subcommittee met in late April to schedule the upcoming season and make recommendations to the Rowing ACT Committee who have now approved the below program. Regrettably following the Regatta Subcommittee meeting Rowing NSW amended their regatta schedule presenting a clash between the ACT Championships and the NSW Schoolgirl Head of the River. Masters Committee, Calling for Expressions of Interest

Masters rowing and ‘recreational’ rowing have continued to grow in popularity and numbers in every state. In an effort to better and more widely represent that growing community across a range of areas, the board of Rowing Australia are calling for ‘Expressions of Interest’ from motivated individuals to become a member on the Rowing Australia Masters Committee.

Interested individuals are encouraged to send an expression of interest to actra@rowingact.org.au. The RA Board will ask each State Association office to provide a recommendation of their nominees.
