CGS Selection Races Wednesday 18 October

CGS will be conducting 4 selection races over 1800m this Wednesday (18 October) with first race to start at 6:50am. The races will be one after the other, and they will work around other course users. CGS would appreciate your assistance by keeping Tinnie wash to a minimum.

47th Disher Cup this Saturday

On 14 Oct 2017, the RMC Duntroon, ADFA and the Australian National University (ANU) Rowing Clubs will compete in the 47th Disher Cup Regatta. The Disher Cup Regatta was first contested in 1971.  This year the finish line is at the Rond Terrace, Lake Burley Griffin.  Again, it is shaping to be an exciting and hotly contested race between these three education institutions.

The event commences at 0715 with entertainment by the RMC Band.  Hot coffee, and bacon and egg rolls will be on sale with all profits going to the ACT’s Veteran support community.

Rowing WA Job Vacancy

Rowing WA has an exciting vacancy available for an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Sport Development Manager.

The position will be required to design and implement club, coach, official and athlete development programs to improve the recruitment and retention pathways for each of these stakeholder groups.

THE AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE FORCE ROWING CLUB AFFILIATED AT THE 53rd AGM

Rowing ACT is very pleased to announce that Member Clubs agreed in August to the affiliation of the Australian Defence Force Rowing Club (ADFRC).   The sport has been growing over time and any addition to the number of Member Clubs is a very welcome event.

Major Gary Bergman explained the reasons behind setting up the Club.

2017 Winter Time Trial Pointscore Winners

The 2017 Winter Time Trials series has concluded following WTT 5 on 17/23 September.

The Men’s 1x Kwiatkowski Cup came down to the wire, with the top 5 rowers all within 10 points leading into the final WTT. Sitting 2nd, Tom Perry (CRC/HPP) won maximum points to pass leader Hayden Vanderwoude (Shellharbour) and win his second consecutive Kwiatkowski Cup, the first rower to do so. Rob Curtin (BMRC) and Tyron Boorman (BMRC/HPP) were 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Entries open for National Training Centre Time Trials

Entries are invited for the 1st RACT/ACTAS, NTC Time Trial of the 2017-18 season to be held on 30th September 2017. Information on events and entries can be found on the RACT calendar http://regattas.rowingact.org.au/

ELIGIBILITY

Competitors eligible to enter must be registered members of RACT, and comply with the RACT Status Rules governing competition.

All competitors are required to wear their club racing uniform.

All athletes are required to participate in a supervised weigh-in on the day.

Lake Tuggeranong Rowing Club – Come and Try Day

The Lake Tuggeranong Rowing Club is hosting a Come and Try Day on Saturday 7 October 2017, 9.00am – 11.00am at the LTRC shed under the Tuggeranong Library on Cowlishaw Street.

This information morning is for anyone 12 years and older who is interested in joining Lake Tuggeranong Rowing Club or completing one of our learn to row programs. Winter Time Trials Pointscore Heats Up

Through 3 Winter Time Trials there isn’t much separating the pointscore leaders in each boat class.

The Kwiatkowski Cup Men’s 1x is led by Shellharbour rower Hayden Vanderwoude with a 4 point advantage over BMRC’s Rob Curtin. Alan Carey (CGS Old Boys) and Nicholas Barnier (CRC) round out the top 4 just 5 and 7 points back from Vanderwoude. 2016 Kwiatkowski Cup Winner Tom Perry (CRC) isn’t far off the pace in 5th.
