NSW Masters Results

ACT rowers have returned to the Territory following a successful weekend at the NSW Masters Championships.

Canberra Rowing Club finished 3rd on the Overall Medal Table, with Black Mountain RC placing 7th. ANU and Lake Tuggeranong RC were also represented strongly at the regatta.

The Championships are good preparation for those going to the Australian Masters in Nagambie, Victoria 18-21 May.

Caleb Antill selected in Australian U23 Team

Congratulations to Caleb Antill (ANUBC) who has been announced as the Australian U23 Men’s Single Sculler for the U23 World Championships.

The U23 Australian Rowing Team will compete at the U23 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Antill was a member of the Australian U23 Men’s Quadruple Scull World Champions last year.

Rowing ACT wishes Caleb the best of luck in his preparation for the World Championships.

ACT Clubs Perform Well at Trickett Regatta

Last weekend a group of 80 rowers, coaches and support team from CRC, ANU and ADFA travelled to Penrith to compete in the Ed Trickett NSW Club Championships Regatta.  The regatta is a two day event catering for all boat classes and abilities.  For many it is enjoyable to attend and race at the Olympic course, for some it may have been too soon after the Australian Championships Regatta to be back at SIRC…

ROWING MANAGER ACTIVE ROWING YEAR IS 2017-18 – REGISTER NOW

 

The Rowing ACT active rowing year in Rowing Manager has been rolled over to 2017-18.  Registrations for 2017-18 may now be made.

Registration will be required to compete in events from 1 May in the ACT or interstate.  This includes the forthcoming NSW and Australian Masters and our own Winter Time Trials, which start at the end of May.

Please register as soon as possible to avoid any issues.

Rowing ACT Head Coach Appointment

Nick Garratt is Rowing ACT’s next Head Coach.

Garratt will move to Canberra following on from coaching the successful 2017 NSW Kings Cup crew and as Head coach at Mosman Rowing Club.

Rowing ACT President David Bagnall welcomed Nick’s appointment, and the greater involvement of Rowing ACT in managing the ACT High Performance Program, along with our partners, Rowing Australia and ACTAS. “We think Nick has the skills to get the best out of our aspiring younger rowers and work co-operatively with our diverse club and school programs” Bagnall commented.

Australian Running Festival Road Closures 8-9 April

The Australian Running Festival, incorporating The Canberra Times Marathon will be held the weekend of
April, 8-9, 2017.
Course routes have been designed to reduce the impact on the local community; however, at various times
over the weekend there will be some streets that will be temporarily closed and some others that will have
temporary traffic flow restrictions in place. This might affect some rowers and access to certain sheds.
Saturday, April 8 — Time of events:
10km Course – 7am to 9am
5km Course – 9am to 10ay

Canberra Rowing Club Win the 2016/17 Point Score Premiership

The ACT summer rowing season has wrapped up following the Head of the Lake regatta.

Canberra Rowing Club (CRC) have won their 5th consecutive Point Score Premiership, collecting both the Women’s and Men’s Premierships along the way.

The Premiership race was close leading into the final regatta of the season at the ACT Championships, with CRC, Radford and Black Mountain Rowing Club (BMRC) all still in contention. A dominant performance from CRC at the double-points Championships secured them the pennant. ANU Regatta – Steve Fairbairn Cup won by Newington College

The ANU Regatta, which was held on 4 February, was the biggest regatta of the 2016-17 Season and we thank everyone for their participation.  We were fortunate that the regatta ran its full schedule despite earlier concerns over wind and heat.

We had a number of interstate clubs participating.    In order of the number of entries these comprised Newington, Kinross, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven.

Congratulations to Newington College in winning the Steve Fairbairn Memorial Trophy.  This trophy is awarded to the Club scoring the highest number of points at the ANU Regatta.  It was won by CRC in 2016 and by […]
