The YOF starts on Wednesday and runs until Sunday. The ACT has a great team of young athletes going. The rowing is at SIRC, Penrith on Saturday and Sunday and if it is like previous events, entry is free. You can see more information at the YOF web site and the rowing program is here. But NSW Rowing Association is running the regatta and all the real information will be here. In preparation for next week’s Youth Olympics, the ACT team will be running a mini regatta on the Yarramundi Reach course on this Saturday morning. Program consists of three sets of two events at 07:00, 07:20 and 09:00. Please show consideration and keep out of the way. Coaches, please don’t wash off the crews. If you have a visiting rowing camp group at your boatshed, please tell them about this.
Another rowing book from the publisher of “Peter Antonie – Out of His Shell” is coming out during January. It is a history of professional sculling by Stuart Ripley. A flyer is available here.
The results of yesterdays regatta have been published and can be found here. The first two hours of the regatta had light to no wind, and then it picked up to 35-40 kpm/h with gusts to 50. This resulted in some races being shortened and running starts from the 1500m start. Triathlon ACT has advised that a swim leg of a triathlon will be held on Tarcoola Reach on Sunday 7 December. It will have a buoyed course outside the Radford boatshed that will enable traffic on the water to go around it. The swim will be 09:00-10:00. They will also be conducting a cycling race on Lady Denman Drive which will result in a road closure from 08:45 until 10:00. A pair of spectacles were found at Yarramundi Reach spectator area last Saturday. There have been some discussions on this, but it is not possible to organise. See your club for refunds or credits of seat fees.
