The next Winter Time Trial is quickly approaching and entries are due this weekend at your club. You should look forward to the still cool conditions that bless the true winter time trials. ACT Athletes at the 2nd World Rowing Cup – Lucerne We have two athletes campaigning for Australia in Europe at the moment. Sonia Mills raced in the W2x with Catriona Sens and won the B final. Sarah Cook raced in the W2- with Kim Crow and took 4th in the A final. You can read exciting summaries at the World Rowing web site. Australian Masters Rowing Championships completed The AMRC was held last weekend at Nagambie, Victoria. About 80 competitors travelled from the ACT. The ACT representative results were: WIS4x 4th; MIS8 2nd; WIS8 5th; and MIS4x 5th. All results are available from the Rowing Victoria web site.


Nominations for the ACT Youth Cup to be held later this year, are due on Wednesday, 4 June. Further information and a nomination form are available here [PDF].


A fund raising dinner [1.1MB PDF] will be held on 20 June for our ACT based Mens double scull crew of Sasha Belonogoff, Nick Barnier and Jaime Fernandez (coach). These fund raising dinners are always fun and interesting events for anyone associated with rowing. It will be at the Southern Cross Club and will cost you $85 each after you contact on 6298 1099 or . Please note that junior Australian representatives do not receive the funding other Australian representatives do and need to pay several thousand dollars each to complete. ACT Masters Representative Crews Announced The crews for next week’s Australian Masters Rowing Championships Interstate races at Nagambie, Victoria, have been announced. They are:

The National Capital Authority has change the Olympic Torch Relay lake closure from East Basin to Central and West Basin from 05:45 to 15:00. ACTRA Office switches to winter hours During winter, the ACTRA office hours will be from 09:00 to 17:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The National Capital Authority is closing East Basin between 05:45 and 15:00 on Thursday for the Olympic Torch Relay. Winter Time Trials – dates announced Just in case you overlooked it in the April Backsplash newsletter, the dates for this year’s Winter Time Trials have been announced. There are 5 events this year, instead of the usual 4, and they start in May, a month earlier. The dates are in the newsletter below, and in the event calendar (link at left).
