We have had significant damage to our club over the past few days in Launceston- Tasmania, and it looks like it will continue for several more tides. This means we can’t even get in yet to clean up. By the time we can, it will have been 5 days of water up to 5ft in depth throughout the club for most of that time….
This leaves the building in pretty bad shape! We are not even sure what has gone, because when the roller door and windows went, things got sucked out! Fortunately we were able to evacuate many boats, and little damage has been done to the remaining ones. However our gym and club facilities are ruined.
We are going to struggle to rebuild Tamar, a club that has been in existence in Launceston since 1876. (For a full insight into what we had and our history, go to the Tamar Rowing Club website)
Over the past few years we have fundraised to remodel our kitchen, have replaced our bathroom/change rooms and spent time and money on painting, fixing the roof and new curtains. All that is now gone. I am a 4th generation member of the Tamar Rowing Club and I know I speak for all when I say we are like a family and the club is our second home.
If you are able to help you can make a tax deductible donation through the link below:

Any donation you can make will be greatly appreciated.
