The international rowing federation FISA has announced that ANU student Sarah Bourke has been shortlisted for an international award.

Sarah is one of six athletes, and the only Australian, to be announced as a finalist for World Rowing’s Parmigiani Spirit Award. The award is for a university rower who has demonstrated the core values of rowing in his or her social, academic and sporting life and, through these values, also enabled or inspired exceptional success in other people’s lives – for example in education, business, sport or charity.

The finalists were selected from 25 nominees from 12 countries. Further details including a short biography of Sarah can be found at www.worldrowing.com

The winner will be determined by the end of September.

Well done Sarah!.

The series winner for each category of boat is determined by a point score based on handicap times. Crews/scullers receive one point for each race they complete, plus one point for each opponent in that race that they beat on handicap time. Crews can accumulate series points provided they do not change more than 25% of their crew from one time trial to the next.

Entries should be via your club and sent by email to James Hammond. Entries close at 10pm on the Friday preceding the time trial (September 13). Larger clubs may collate entries into the template spread sheet below.

Built for average weight of 95kg

This is a minimum weight boat, built for Daramalan College in 1998. It is in good condition (could do with a re-spray if you want the look of a new boat) and would suit a sculler above 80kg and would easily cope with 100kg. I have recently rowed the boat and was surprised at how comfortable it felt – still lively and responsive, despite its age (and mine!).

This boat currently belongs to Paul Rowe and I am selling it on his behalf.

It is currently stored in the Daramalan Boats Shed in Canberra and I can arrange for you to view the boat. I can also arrange for transport to Sydney, if necessary.
