The fifth and final Rowing ACT 2012 Winter Time Trial will be held on the 8th and 9th September 2012. The format of the event is singles and pairs on the Saturday, doubles, quads, fours and eights on Sunday. Rowing ACT is willing to accept double entries on Saturday, however crews must be early novice. Clubs need to be aware these crews will NOT be competing in any official category and will not be awarded prize or point score rewards.

The course is 3km long and runs from near the Governor Generals wharf, around a turning boat near the 1800m start, down Yarramundi Reach, around Kurrajong Point and up Tarcoola Reach finishing at the first of the white timber piles, opposite the AIS in Lotus Bay.

The series winner for each category of boat is determined by a point score based on handicap times. Crews/scullers receive one point for each race they complete, plus one point for each opponent in that race that they beat on handicap time. Crews can accumulate series points provided they do not change more than 25% of their crew from one time trial to the next.

Entries should be via your club and sent by email to Rowing ACT . Entries close at 10pm on the Friday preceding the time trial (10th August). Larger clubs may collate entries into the template spread sheet below.

*Winter Time Trial number 4* Small boats event was held in a sunny but windy day on the lake. Snow on the mountains in the distance gave a real sense of winter for the competitors.
A bumpy ride from the start to the turning buoy and down the race course. Crews took advantage of the sheltered water from big bend till the finish line.

Sunday Big Boat Day. Pleasant sunny conditions with a light head breeze at times down Yarramundi Reach.

At the world junior rowing championships in Plovdiv Bulgaria the Australian men’s junior Quad Scull crew which includes Radford’s Luke Letcher unfortunately had a difficult quarter final row on Thursday. Needing to come in the first three to reach the semi-finals to determine the A finalists, the Australians raced the two current world and European Champion crews from Romania and Italy along with a strong crews from the Netherlands and Norway. Initially Netherlands started well, although both Italy and Romania quickly showed their class by sharing the lead. Norway and Australia were desperately catching the fading Netherlands crew, but in fast tail wind conditions this proved challenging. Towards the finish Italy and Romania led home Norway to progress to the semi-finals that determine the A finalists. Australia will now contest for a berth in the C final. Congratulations to Luke and the rest of the crew, tough racing within a world class field but a great effort.

Rowing will be one of a record 41 sports on the program at the 8th Pan Pacific Masters Games to be held on the beautiful Gold Coast from 3 to 11 November 2012.

The Pan Pacs, as the Games are affectionately known, are a celebration of master’s sport with both fierce and friendly competition on the sporting field and a fun-filled entertainment program at the Games Village each night.

The sport is conducted in age groups with no qualifying standards to enter. The only criteria for entry is that participants must meet the minimum age for their sport, and for most sports that is 30 years of age.

All sports are located in close proximity to the Games Village situated at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach. The Games Village will feature the registration centre, live nightly entertainment, fully catered hospitality and merchandise, but most-of-all, an exclusive venue for participants to meet up and enjoy the spirit of the Pan Pacs.

The Pan Pacific Masters Games is organised by Events Queensland Gold Coast with great support from the Gold Coast City Council and the host organisations for all 40 sports.
