Rowing Australia hires Andrew Randell

Rowing Australia today announced that Andrew Randell will be joining Rowing Australia’s Men’s National Training Centre (NTC).
Rowing ACT congratulates Andrew on this acknowledgement of his exemplary coaching, and we wish him well. Andrew will still supervise the ACT High performance camp at Jindabyne in January, and RACT has approached appropriate High Performance coaches to assume Andrew’s role up until the National Regatta, so that our athletes are not inconvenienced. We will look to advertise and find a replacement after the National Regatta.

Randell joins Rowing Australia having turned around an under-performing ACTAS program to contribute significantly to the […]

ACT Rowers International rowers’ success

ACT rowers have been successful over the last several days with Angus Moore from Canberra University teaming with University of South Australia’s Nathan Bowden to win a bronze medal in the World University Games in Poznan, Poland.
Great racing against tough competition for Angus who is attempting to re-establish his International credentials.

In New Zealand Tyron Borman was part of a very successful Under 21 Australian team competing in the Trans-Tasman Rusty Robertson Trophy which Australia has won. Tyron was successful in being unbeaten in both the single and quad sculls against tough kiwi competition. A great result for […]

ACT Rowers in World Champion Under 23 crew

ACT rowers Luke Letcher and Caleb Antill were part of a winning World Champion Under 23 Quad Scull crew competing overnight at Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The two ACT scullers teamed up with Mosman rowers Tom Schramko and Robert Black, and trained in Perth under Antonio Maurogiovanni, prior to departing for Europe. The crew took the lead following their typical powerful start, showed great rhythm in the middle stages of the race, and then held off the fast finishing New Zealanders in the last 50 metres. A great race against a quality field, and a credit to Antonio’s coaching. Local […]

New Boathouse Proposal for Black Mountain Peninsula

John Gasson and I presented a proposal to the Lake Users Group forum of the National Capital Authority on Wednesday, 2 December 2015.

My presentation provided a background history of how water sport has always been part of Lake Burley Griffin, and why there is a need for additional rowing boat storage around the lake.
John Gasson outlined details of the proposed facility on Black Mountain Peninsula.
