CGS Regatta cancelled

This weekend sees the ACT facing its worst fire conditions
since 2003, with high temperatures, strong winds, poor air quality, and a
bushfire out of control in the Namadgi National Park. Given this combination,
Rowing ACT has decided to cancel this weekend’s CGS Regatta. This is to make
sure that athletes, coaches, volunteers, staff, spectators and families are not
put under duress, and that everyone has the opportunity to prepare themselves
and their properties for all eventualities.

Rowing ACT will now work towards holding a replacement regatta on Yarramundi Reach on Saturday February 22.

Rowing ACT statement on bushfires & Canberra conditions

Firstly our hearts go out to those who have been affected by the bushfires ravaging Australia, particularly south-eastern Australia. The devastation these bushfires have wrought across the country is truly heartbreaking and Rowing ACT will be working with Rowing Australia and other state rowing bodies to see what fundraising and support we can provide. Those wanting to donate to the relief effort can do so via the Red Cross at https://www.redcross.org.au/campaigns/disaster-relief-and-recovery-donate#donate. You can also donate goods via Givit at http://givit.org.au/.

Although bushfires
have not spread to the ACT so far, the smoke from surrounding bushfires has
[…]
