Luke Letcher – World Under 23 Championships

A.C.T. Sculler Luke Letcher finished up 16th out of the 30 single scullers racing in the World Under 23 Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy on Saturday. Although the result was disappointing, the 20 year old will benefit from racing the best in the world in this most competitive boat class.

Luke still has another two seasons to compete as an under 23, and he will be looking to be more consistent across his racing in the future.

ANU Boat Club Celebrates 50 Years

The ANU Boat Club is pleased to announce that it has finally achieved 50 years of age! And it has not just survived that first half century but thrived. The club now has 140 members, is one of the top performing clubs in Australian university rowing, and is ANU Sport’s Club of the Year.

Luke Letcher – World Under 23 Championships

Luke Letcher progresses though first round of world under 23 Championships.

 The Black Mountain Rowing Club single sculler Luke Letcher has progressed through the first round of racing as an Australian representative in the under 23 World Rowing Championships at Varese, Italy overnight. The 20 year old faced a big field of 29 other competitors, who are the best from their respective nations.

Rowing Australia is looking to employ a part-time Marketing and Communications Manager for the 2015 Sydney International Rowing Regatta. Reporting to the SIRR Project Manager the primary responsibility of the Marketing and Communications Manager will be to develop and implement a strategic Marketing and Communication plan to drive ticket sales for 2015 Sydney International Rowing Regatta.

World Rowing Cup on Fox Sports 3 this weekend

The Australian Rowing Team is all set to compete this weekend in the final round of the World Rowing Cup. The event runs from Friday 11 July to Sunday 13 July on the Rotsee in Lucerne, Switzerland and sees Australia entering 22 crews across 17 events.

2014 – 2015 ACT Regatta Season Dates Confirmed

The Rowing ACT regatta dates for the upcoming season are now final. The Regatta Subcommittee met in late June to schedule the upcoming season. The calendar includes two pre premiership season events, the Disher Cup and Col Panton Memorial Marathon. The Premiership season then starts on the 1November with the Capital Lakes RC regatta. The Head of the Molonglo Marathon has been moved to November to allow crews preparing for the Head of the Yarra some preparation and to link to a very special November tradition to be announced soon.

Grzeskowiak and Davis Successful in Trans Tasman Racing

ACT athletes Cara Grzeskowiak and Sarah Davis have been outstanding as part of an Australian Under 21 team competing in the first leg of the Trans Tasman competition against New Zealand in Penrith. They are part of a team that are combining in a mixture of small and large boat events for the Rusty Robertson Trophy.

Michael Cusack is RACT’s next Executive Officer

Michael Cusack has been appointed incoming Rowing ACT Executive Officer.

Michael will work alongside James Hammond up until 25th July when James departs for Adelaide. This transition period will provide Michael with much of the knowledge that James has acquired in the role during his successful tenure.

Michael comes to the job from his previous role with qualifications and experience as a town planner. Valuable skills that he brings to RACT that are relevant to this job include stakeholder consultation, project management, client management, data collation, quantitative analysis, and liaison with ACT planning authorities.
