World Cup #1 – Fantastic Result for ACT’s Sarah Cook

Sarah Cook and Kim Crow won the W2- final at the first Rowing World Cup event at Linz, Austria on 3 June. A report of the win can be found in the news archive on the Rowing Australia web site, and a bit on the FISA web site. Sarah also placed 5th in the W8+ final on the same day. Youth Cup ACT Team Selection Documentation Released The selection documentation for the Youth Cup team has been released in 3 parts: Selector (3) requirements (nominations due this coming Friday, 15 June); a Coach (nomination closing date is also this coming Friday, 15 June); and for the team themselves (nomination closing date 22 June). Rowing Australia Newsletter – May Edition This edition of the newsletter was released on 3 June and can be seen here. They must have held it back so they could include a nice photo of Sarah in the W2-. Australian Masters Rowing Championships – ACT does well again The AMRC was held at Sydney Regatta Centre (Penrith) on 1-3 June. Exactly 100 ACT masters rowers entered the regatta (9% of the total rowers) from the Black Mountain and Canberra Rowing clubs. They entered 162 boats, totalling 539 seats (about 10% of the total seats at the regatta). There were many wins and great performance, as well as a lot of fun. The ACT crews in the interstate competition achieved: W4x 2nd; M8+ 3rd; W8+ 3rd; M4x 6th. A general regatta report can be found here, and results, photos and information here. Seminar – Nutrition for Top Performance – Thursday, 14 June This seminar is on this coming Thursday by Glenn Cardwell, at the National Press Club, Barton. It is being organised by Nutrition Australia and more information can be found here. Sport Leadership Grants for Women – 2007-8 The Australian Government is offering to grant funds for developing women at a club level to develop skills in a range of areas. Applications close on Friday, 29 June and more information can be found here.
